May 27 (Bloomberg) -- Minerals Management Service Director Elizabeth Birnbaum has resigned, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar told a congressional committee today.
“Liz Birnbaum has resigned as the director of the minerals management service,” Salazar said. She resigned of her own volition, Salazar said. “She is a good public servant,’ he said.
Birnbaum was removed from her job, a person familiar with the decision said earlier today.
